Your mindset runs your life.
A mindset is really just another word for subconscious programming, a 'schema', a set of beliefs.
We don't just have 'one' mindset. In every moment, different beliefs or programs alter the way we see reality.
These programs make choices for us before we even are aware that we're making a choice.
When we are young, our brains are so receptive that we absorb
the attitudes, beliefs and reactions of everyone around us.
And since we don't transport ourselves to totally different homes, social circles, etc.,
from one day to the next, we tend to get the same kinds of 'input' over and over and over again.
Our brain doesn't decide between which inputs will be 'good' or 'bad'.
For the brain, it's all about 'survival of the busiest'.
Whatever input gets repeated, will fire those same networks.
And once that neural circuitry has fired enough times,
the brain devotes a white fat called myelin to make those circuits super fast.
That's how we learn everything.
How we learn to walk, talk, sing, dance.
And it is also where we learn our 'self-talk'.
The good news is that even though we don't choose the beliefs that get passed on to us,
we can learn how to re-program many of those unconscious mindsets.
"I learned how to infuse lessons with conversations about emotion, vulnerability and failure. Stefanie knows what she is talking about
– and backed it all up with evidence."
– Jenna De Bruin, Teacher Innovator, Chicago IL
